Mandi MP Pratibha Singh Friday met Defence Minister A.K. Antony and requested him to sort out the land row between the Steel Authority of India (SAIL) and his ministry over setting up a plant in the state.
Pratibha Singh apprised Antony that the Himachal Pradesh government has allotted land to the SAIL for setting up a steel processing plant at Kandrori in Kangra district but the Field Ordinance Depot located there has served a notice to SAIL for unauthorized construction on the notified land, an statement said.
The MP said SAIL has already made substantial investment in the project, which is in advance stage of commissioning.
"The project will boost employment and economic activities in the region," said the statement, quoting Pratibha Singh, wife of chief minister Virbhadra Singh.
Antony assured her that his ministry would take appropriate action in this regard at the earliest.
