President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi Tuesday paid tribute to Jawaharlal Nehru on his 50th death anniversary.
President Mukherjee and Vice President Hamid Ansari paid floral tributes at Shanti Van - Nehru's memorial on the Yamuna river bank.
"I pay my tributes to our 1st Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on his Punya Tithi (death anniversary)," Modi tweeted.
Modi took oath as India's 14th Prime Minister at an impressive ceremony Monday.
Jawaharlal Nehru served as India's first prime minister from 1947 till his death in 1964.
