Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri on Friday assured home buyers and real estate builders that the government will try to sort out most of their problems/grievances as soon as possible through consultations.
The Minister said that the government had already set up Advisory Committees in the western, eastern and southern regions of the country to begin consultations with builders and buyers to look for solutions to their problems and ensure that affordable houses were delivered without delays.
Puri said that the Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA)-related issues of builders will also be addressed by the Advisory Committee members.
Addressing a Global Investment Summit under the aegis of the National Real Estate Development Council (NAREDCO), Haryana, the Minister said that since the construction sector contributed greatly to the Gross Domestic Product and employment generation, the Centre is duty-bound to address its concerns and issues.
The Minister said a handful of builders had brought a bad name to the real estate sector, assuring of action against them as per the law.
In his welcome address, NAREDCO Haryana Chapter Chairman Rajeev Talwar urged the Centre to come to the rescue of builders and real estate developers whose land parcels had been kept under mortgage by various states since it would lead to delay in project completion and disrupt the real estate sector's development.
