Prohibitory orders have been clamped in and around the High Court premises here after violent protests by lawyers, which left over 40 people injured, officials said on Thursday.
"As a matter of abundant caution, section 144 has been put in place," an official told IANS.
Angry at the murder of a lawyer in the state capital, lawyers of the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court (HC) went berserk on Tuesday, torching vehicles, beating up passers-by, breaking cameras of media persons, attacking employees at the Swasthya Bhawan and targeting police personnel.
Two people - both patients headed for medical facilities, died on Wednesday as they were caught in the traffic jam on the violence-hit road.
Officials said that FIR's have been registered against the lawyers found involved in inciting the mob and those who were spotted setting fire to vehicles.
Lawyers will be off work on Thursday too, said R.D. Shahi, general secretary of the Avadh Bar Association.
