PSV will be without defender Karim Rekik in Saturday's Eredivisie clash against FC Twente due to an ankle injury, the Eindhoven based football club announced Thursday.
Rekik will be examined by specialists in England next week and is expected to need an operation. After the operation, he will probably be out for four weeks. If that is the case, Rekik will also miss the Dutch league matches against Ajax (home), AZ (away) and RKC Waalwijk (home), the Cup match against Telstar (home) and the Europa League games against Ludogorets (home) and FK Chornomorets Odesa (away), reports Xinhua.
The 18-year-old defender, who arrived on loan from Manchester this year, impressed in his first games for PSV. Due to the injury, he missed out on a first selection for the Dutch squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Estonia (2-2) and Andorra (2-0 win).
Rekik also missed the last league match against SC Cambuur (0-0) Au 31. During that match, he was replaced by 18-year-old Jorrit Hendrix, who will probably play against FC Twente as well. PSV are currently second in the Eredivisie behind leaders PEC Zwolle, while Twente are third.
