Rahul Bhatia keen to invest in Andhra Pradesh

IndiGo Airlines chairman Rahul Bhatia, who met Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu here Thursday, said he is keen to work with his government for the state's development.

Bhatia is managing directorof InterGlobe Enterprises, a $2.6 billion travel and hospitality group which is best known for its budget airline.

According to a statement from the chief minister's office, Bhatia evinced interest in hotel industry, education and health sectors. He also plans to develop a chain of hotels.

He said they would also set up a world-class university, where students and faculty will be provided residential facility on the campus. There will also be scholarships and health facilities for the students.

Bhatia said IndiGo would improve connectivity to existing airports in the state. He said Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility would be created in partnership with Airbus. An aviation hub will be developed in the state.

Naidu said airports at Visakhapatnam, Tirupati and Vijaywada will be developed into international airports. An action plan will be prepared for developing an airport in every district.
