Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Monday launched a scathing attack on the BJP-led NDA government, accusing it of being "anti-farmer".

On a two-day visit to his Amethi parliamentary constituency, the Gandhi scion accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of pursuing anti-farmer policies and assured farmers that Congress was firmly with them to oppose all such measures.

He was accorded a grand welcome at the Amausi airport near Lucknow, from where he drove down to Amethi.

Gandhi later led a 'padyatra' (walkathon) with farmers to the site where a mega food park was to come up but has been axed by the National Democratic Alliance government.
