Rains lashed the Uttar Pradesh capital Friday bringing down the temperature, giving much relief to the people from the hot and humid weather.
The monsoon has arrived in the eastern parts of the state and will reach Lucknow by Saturday, said Met officials.
Regional Met Director J.P. Gupta told IANS that the monsoon has gathered momentum and could arrive sooner than expected in the state capital.
The eastern parts of Uttar Pradesh received moderate rainfall Friday morning bringing down the minimum temperatures to 25.3 degrees Celsius, two notches below the season's average. Thursday's maximum temperatures settled at 37.1 degrees Celsius, average for the season.
The day temperatures in many parts of the state for the past 10 days have been settling between 45 and 46 degrees Celsius.
