The Rajasthan cabinet on Thursday decided to repeal "incoherent and redundant" laws.
Addressing a press conference, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Rajendra Singh Rathore said a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje approved the Rajasthan Laws Repealing Bill, 2015.
A committee, constituted by the state government to review certain laws, after consultation with all administrative departments identified 60 principal acts and 187 amending acts as no longer of use.
"With an aim to repeal such obsolete acts, the cabinet approved the draft of the Rajasthan Laws Repealing Bill, 2015. This bill will be tabled in the next session of the state assembly," said Rathore.
The next assembly session will start from September 16.
Rathore said the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (Rajasthan Amendment) Bill, 2015 was also given approval by the cabinet.
Provision has been made in the amendment bill that if a child has not achieved appropriate level in a class, the child may be held back.
The minister said the cabinet also gave approval to the Rajasthan e-Governance and IT/ITeS Policy 2015, which aims to establish 7 smart cities in Rajasthan by 2020 and to provide employment to 5 lakh people in the IT sector by 2025.
