Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh spoke to Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das following a stampede at a temple in Deoghar town in which at least 11 people were killed and 50 injured.
"I spoke to Chief Minister (of) Jharkhand Raghubar Das, who apprised me of the situation in Deoghar post the stampede and he asked for extra RAF (Rapid Action Force) deployment," the minister tweeted.
He said officials have been instructed to provide all possible help to the affected. "I have instructed Home Secretary L.C. Goyal to send one extra RAF battalion to Deoghar for better crowd and security management."
Over 100,000 people were standing in a queue at the temple when the incident occurred.
