Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt, who has produced the forthcoming TV show "Dil Ki Baatein Dil Hi Jaane", says Ram Kapoor was the perfect choice for it.
The "Bade Achhe Lagte Hain" star is heading back to television with "Dil Ki Baatein Dil Hi Jaane", where he will play the role of Ram, who is on the brink of losing his terminally ill wife Anandita (played by Gurdeep Kohli) forever.
"Ram Kapoor as himself was the perfect fit for the role that I had visualised, hence there was no requirement for him to lose weight. His acting skills are enough to move viewers to tears and make them feel the same pain as he is going through," Bhatt said in a statement.
"Dil Ki Baatein Dil Hi Jaane" will be aired on Sony Entertainment Television from March onwards.

Pallavi Kulkarni enjoyed 'drunk scenes'
Actress Pallavi Kulkarni, who plays the reserved and strict mother Ragini Patel in soap opera "Itna Karo Na Mujhe Pyar", says she had fun shooting drunk scenes.
As per the sequence, Ragini gets high after having an extra shot of brandy to beat the cold.
"This is the first time I got a chance to act drunk onscreen. I had a complete blast while shooting the drunk scenes. I usually have to act very serious and reserved for the role so this was definitely a refreshing change for me," Pallavi said in a statement.
Were there any preparations?
Pallavi said: "I didn't do any particular homework for the scene, but I have seen a lot of my friends getting drunk so I know how they behave. I have observed how their speech changes and the way they talk and walk also changes."

Aditya Narayan an ardent fan of Aamir Khan
Singer-actor Aditya Narayan, who is currently hosting singing reality TV show "Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li'l Champs", says he is an ardent fan of Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan.
Aditya will be seen donning a similar look to that of Aamir in his satirical comedy drama film "PK" in the forthcoming episode of the show. He will play the role of the main character's younger brother QK.
"Hosting 'Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li'l Champs' is turning out to be an entertaining experience. From eating green chillies on the sets, hanging on a pole mid-air, to singing duets with children and now playing Aamir Khan's younger brother from PK, it's been a roller-coaster ride for me on the show," Aditya said in a statement.
"Being an ardent Aamir Khan fan, I have watched 'PK' quite a few times and totally loved his character. So, the concept and idea immediately excited me and I thought what better way to exhibit my acting abilities," he added.
Aditya's "PK" look will be seen on the show's Saturday episode, which will be aired on Zee TV.
