Yoga guru Ramdev Friday praised the Narendra Modi government for promoting yoga at the world stage and expressed elation over the UN decision to declare June 21 the International Day of Yoga.
"This government of Modi has promoted yoga like no other government," he said at a press conference here.
The UN General Assembly Thursday adopted a resolution, with a record number of 175 country co-sponsors, for observance of International Day of Yoga June 21 each year.
Modi had proposed holding an international yoga day in his UN General Assembly speech Sep 27.
"Students will benefit from Yoga at a much earlier age if it is introduced at the school level," Ramdev said, adding he had made a proposal to the prime minister.
