The Congress on Monday said "reaction" to Madhur Bhandarkar's upcoming "Indu Sarkar" was inevitable because there is an apprehension that the film, set during the Emergency days in India from 1975 to 1977, is a distortion of facts.

"If there is anything objectionable in the movie, they (its makers) should have first showed it to us (the Congress). If you distort facts and release the movie, then definitely there will be a reaction to it," Congress General Secretary in-charge of Madhya Pradesh Mohan Prakash told IANS.

Prakash's remarks come as the Indore unit of the Congress wrote a letter to the Cine Circuit Association and Cine Grah Sanchalan asking them not to screen the movie, which has actors like Supriya Vinod and Neil Nitin Mukesh styled on Indira Gandhi and Sanjay Gandhi.

The letter threatens that movie theatres in the city will have to bear the responsibility as Congress supporters will stage protests and burn effigies of actor Anupam Kher and director Bhandarkar if the movie is released in Indore.

On the threat, Prakash said the Indore Congress unit may have written the letter "but the point is if they (the movie makers) distort facts, there will be reaction to it".

Meanwhile, Bhandarkar has made it clear that he has "no agenda to promote any specific political ideology" through the film, which is locked for release on July 28. It is yet to get a censor certificate.
