Real Madrid president Perez proud of Zidane, Ronaldo

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez said on Sunday he is proud of coach Zinedine Zidane and expressed his satisfaction over his team being under the Frenchman's command, also considering Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo as a legend at the Spanish football club.

According to Real Madrid's official website, Perez delivered a speech during the club's General Assembly of Members, in which he said "Zidane symbolises what Real Madrid is all about. Zizou is part of our legend. European champion as a player, European champion as assistant manager and now European champion as head coach of the first team."

"Let me tell you that one of the decisions that has given me the most satisfaction and pride as President was to sign Zinedine Zidane for Real Madrid, first as a player and now as a coach," he added.

"We could say that his signing as a player was decisive for this Real Madrid of the 21st Century, and now as a coach, he is already part of our great history. His knowledge of football, his knowledge of Real Madrid and these players, his management of the group, professionalism and humility, have been crucial to this success."

On the club's star striker Cristiano Ronaldo, the club's president said: "He's one of the great legends of Real Madrid and one of the greatest in the history of football: Cristiano Ronaldo."

"He was again the top scorer in the Champions League with 16 goals, after collecting his fourth Golden Boot last season, becoming the only player in the world who has won 4 Golden Boots and has just received another acknowledgment."

He also recalled Ronaldo had a great season and managed to win Euro 2016 along with Pepe with the Portugal national team, which is the country's first major football trophy.
