Real Madrid on Sunday resumed group practice with a double session at the club's sports city in Valdebebas, after returning from the Christmas break.
After being crowned with the 2018 FIFA Club World Cup on December 22, Madrid is set to take on Villarreal at the Ceramica stadium on Thursday, corresponding to the postponed La Liga matchday 17 encounter, reports Efe.
"After enjoying a few days of rest over the festive break, Real Madrid are back to training," the club said on its website.
"The reigning world champions started off using the indoor facilities, training in the gym," the statement explained. "After that they took to the pitch to complete running exercises at different intensities."
Madrid also added that Team B defender Javi Sánchez joined the team for practice, and another group session is scheduled for Saturday afternoon.
