The Indian recurve mixed team comprising archers Deepika Kumari and Mangal Singh Champia on Sunday settled for the silver at the World Cup-third leg here.
They lost the final encounter against Mexican pair of Aida Roman and Juan Rene Serrano who clinched the issue 5-1.
It was, however, a healthy start for the Indians as they matched arrow-to-arrow to draw the first set at 36-36.
But some very ordinary effort in the second set meant that the Indian duo of Champia and Deepika gave away the advantage to the Mexican pair who easily clinched the set 37-35 hitting two bulls eye.
They then took the momentum to their third set where they carded a brilliant 37 whereas the Indians could only manage 36.
The game did not even go to the fourth set as the Mexican pair has clinched two consecutive ones to be crowned champions.
The silver is the second medal clinched by India in the World Cup as on Saturday Abhishek Verma had bagged the gold in the compound men's individual section.
