Eddie Redmayne and Julianne Moore for "The Theory of Everything" and "Still Alice" respectively were Sunday night awarded the title of Best Actor and Actress in a Motion Picture - Drama at the 72nd Golden Globe ceremony.

Newly wed Redmayne, who cut short his honeymoon with wife Hannah Bagshawe to be here for the ceremony, accepted the award and thanked the jury for providing him with a "wonderful" end to his honeymoon.

In "The Theory Of Everything", Redmayne plays the on screen version of theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking. The movie, adapted from the memoir "Travelling to Infinity: My Life with Stephen", deals with Jane Wilde Hawking's relationship with her ex-husband Stephen, his diagnosis of motor neuron disease, and his success in physics.

Redmayne was competing for the award against talents like Steve Carell ("Foxcatcher"), Benedict Cumberbatch ("The Imitation Game"), Jake Gyllenhaal: ("Nightcrawler") and David Oyelowo ("Selma").

Julianne Moore, glowing in her silver and grey Givenchy dress, was overwhelmed when her name was announced as the winner of the Best Actress in a Motion Picture - Drama

Moore played a woman diagnosed with early on-set Alzheimer's in "Still Alice", and she competed against some stellar performances by Jennifer Aniston ("Cake"), Felicity Jones ("The Theory Of Everything"), Rosamund Pike ("Gone Girl") and Reese Witherspoon ("Wild"), Amy Adams ("Big Eyes"), Emily Blunt ("Into The Woods") and Helen Mirren ("The Hundred-foot Journey") for the award.
