Russian film "Leviathan" was named the Best Foreign Language Film at the Golden Globe awards ceremony held here Sunday.

The flick directed by Andrey Zvyagintsev was pitted against "Force Majeure" (Turist) - Sweden, "Gett: The Trial of Viviane Amsalem Gett" - Israel, "Ida" - Poland/Denmark, "Tangerines" (Mandariinid) - Estonia.

India lost its chance this year even though two films - "Fandry" and "Liar's Dice" - were among the 53 movies considered for the foreign film category.

They lost out in the race for the final nominations.
