The Delhi Medical Council on Thursday cancelled the registration of a city based doctor whose nursing home was allegedly found flouting the PNDT Act of 1994.
The decision comes after a lower court in Haryana cancelled the registration of Krishan Gopal Garg's nursing home in Palwal district of Haryana.
"We have cancelled the registration of Krishan Gopal Garg from the Delhi Medical Council for five years. We will also send a circular to all other state medical councils of the country, so that he can't be allowed to practice during the duration," Girish Tyagi, registrar of Delhi Medical Council, told IANS.
The Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (Regulation and Prevention of Misuse) Act is aimed at preventing the misuse of prenatal diagnostic technique for sex selective abortions.
