Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday called the death of celebrated Hindi author Namwar Singh as end of an era and said restoring dialogue in the country will be the true tribute to him.
"A torchbearer for Hindi literature and critic for 50 years, with Namwar Singh's death an era has come to an end.
"He gave his entire life in making the society tolerant and democratic. Restoring dialogue in the country will be the true tribute to him," Gandhi said on social media.
"He was the brand ambassador of Hindi literary criticism and his works gave a solid foundation to Hindi language and literature. We have to take ahead his work."
The 92-year-old Sahitya Akademi Award winning author and critic breathed his last at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences here late on Tuesday night.
