Rising Students club registered a crucial 2-1 victory over Eastern Sporting Union to rise to the top of the Indian Women's League (IWL) football standings here on Monday.
Eastern Sporting Union opened the scoring in the eighth minute through Radharani Devi.
For Sporting Union, Sasmita Malik equalised in the 57th minute. Ashalata Devi converted a late penalty at the 83rd minute to secure three points for the Cuttack-based club.
"We craved for the result and finally, after the win, we feel much relieved. Obviously, every day we come out to muster all three points and this win will provide us more confidence ahead of the next match," Rising Students' Manisha Panna said after the match.
Rising Students have now six points from two matches while Eastern Sporting Union have three.
