With All-Star starters James Harden and Dwight Howard out with injuries, and Trevor Ariza and Pat Beverley playing limited minutes, the Rockets' backups held on to the last minute, edging the Suns with a three-pointer in the last minute Monday night, reports Xinhua.
The win was the Rockets' ninth straight pre-season win dating to last year.
Terrence Jones led the Rockets with 18 points, Isaiah Canaan chipped in with 16 points, and Troy Daniels added 12 points.
Eric Bledsoe had 13 points, and Goran Dragic added 12 points for the Suns.
