Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP), a unit of the state-run Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), Thursday said it has registered its best ever April-May performance as well as best May performance since inception in key areas.
In the first two months of the current fiscal (April-May), the steel plant at Rourkela in Odisha produced 3.94 lakh tonnes of hot metal, 3.69 lakh tonnes of crude steel and 3.46 lakh tonnes of saleable steel, registering a growth of 2.3 per cent, 2.1 per cent and 2.51 per cent respectively over the corresponding period last year, the company said in a statement.
In the month of May, the steel plant made 2.01 lakh tonnes of hot metal by utilizing 118.3 per cent of capacity, 1.9 lakh tonnes of crude steel by using 118.1 per cent of capacity, and 1.85 lakh tonnes of saleable steel using 130.4 per cent of capacity, clocking the best May performance since inception, it said.
