Indian rower Dattu Bhokanal qualified for the Rio Olympics and finished with the silver medal in the men's singles sculls event at the 2016 FISA Asian and Oceania Olympic Qualification Regatta here on Monday.
Bhokanal registered a time of 7 minutes 07.49 seconds in the two-kilometre race. The top seven finishers in the final qualified for the Olympics.
The 25-year-old from the Indian Army had qualified for the final by finishing second behind Vladislav Yakovlev of Kazakhstan in the semi-finals on Sunday.
But India missed out on an Olympic berth in the men's lightweight double sculls category as the pair of Vikram Singh and Roopendra Singh finished fifth in the final. Only the top three qualify for the Olympics in this category.
