A Royal Bengal Tiger dragged a woman, who had ventured into the forests to catch crabs, into the deep woods in the Sundarbans mangroves of West Bengal's South Parganas district Friday.

A forest official said the woman, in her 40s, was busy picking up crabs from a canal under the Gosaba block when the tiger attacked her.

The victim's husband and another villager accompanying her tried to offer resistance but their efforts were in vain.

The woman is still untraceable, the official said.
