Rs 35 lakh in old currency seized in Gurugram

Police on Tuesday recovered Rs 35 lakh in cash from a car in the now scrapped Rs 1,000 denomination notes.

The seizure was made from a Mercedes car at around 4.30 a.m.

The three persons seated in the car were identified as Nikhil of Haryana and Delhi residents Anurag and Rajat.

"This amount seems to be black money. The Income Tax Department is being informed," police officer Umesh Kumar said.

On Monday evening, Rs 15 lakh was recovered from two persons here.
