Delhi legislators Thursday created a stir in the house over Aam Aadmi Party supporters wearing Gandhi caps on the assembly premises, just before Minister Manish Sisodia could table the trust motion.
However, pro-tem speaker Mateen Ahmed dismissed the objections of the Bharatiya Janata Party, saying "no AAP legislator is wearing the cap in the house".
The house reverberated with the thumping of desks by AAP legislators when Janata Dal-United lawmaker Shoaib Iqbal came to the party's defence.
When the BJP won the first elections in 1993, its members arrived in the house wearing stoles with a lotus - the party symbol - imprinted on it, he reminded the BJP members.
The debate before crucial trust vote took an ugly turn when Iqbal took off his coat and dared BJP legislators for a bout.
He also criticised the BJP over the Ram Mandir issue.
AAP legislators remained silent most of the time. Many were seen noting down points on their writing pads.
Minister Somnath Bharti was seen using a tablet.
Meanwhile, taunting the AAP, some BJP legislators also portrayed themselves as common men, brandishing Delhi Metro smart cards to show their mode of travelling.
