Russian armed forces on Monday began military exercises in 20 land, naval and aviation ranges, involving 95,000 troops, the defence ministry said.
These maneuvers are the culmination of the combat training of the Armed Forces of Russia 2015 (Tsentr-2015), the ministry said in a statement.
The statement added that these drills also conclude the joint actions of the training of the armed forces of the countries of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation, which includes Russia, Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, EFE news reported.
The maneuvers, which will last until Sunday, are being held under the command of Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces and Deputy Defence Minister, General Valery Gerasimov.
A total of 170 aircraft, 20 ships and more than 7,000 units of heavy weaponry, including tanks and missile launchers will be used in the exercises.
