Russia's Yakimenko wins individual saber in World Cup

Russia's Alexey Yakimenko triumphed in the individual saber Gerevich-Kovacs-Karpati World Cup, beating South Korean Kim Junghwan 15-14.

Nicolas Rousset of France and Kamil Ibragimov of Russia finished joint third here on Saturday, reports Xinhua.

They were followed by Tiberiu Dolniceanu of Romania, Max Hartung of Germany, Vincent Anstett of France and Luca Curatoli of Italy.

Overall, 219 fencers from more than 40 countries and regions were entered in the event which continues on Sunday with the "Zarandi" men's saber team events.
