Prime Minister Narendra Modi Wednesday met Russia's Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin and said India attaches high importance to its "special and privileged strategic" ties with Moscow.
Modi told Rogozin that he looked forward to the visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to New Delhi in December for the annual summit, according to a statement from the Prime Minister's Office.
He said Putin's visit would provide an opportunity to take forward bilateral relations to a new level.
Modi "emphasised that India attached very high importance to the time-tested and the special and privileged strategic partnership with Russia," it said.
Earlier in the day, Rogozin co-chaired the 20th round of India-Russia Inter-Governmental Commission meeting along with External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj.
