Former MP Sadhu Yadav Wednesday withdrew his nomination as candidate from Bihar's Maharajganj Lok Sabha constituency, saying he will not contest the polls this time to help the ruling Janata Dal-United candidate in the fray.
"I have withdrawn my nomination as an Independent candidate. I will not contest the polls," Yadav told media persons here.
Yadav, brother of former chief minister Rabri Devi and brother-in-law of Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad, praised Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
"I strongly feel that Nitish Kumar is a better leader than others in Bihar and across the country," he said.
Yadav had earlier announced he would contest the Lok Sabha polls against Rabri Devi from Saran constituency, but later decided to contest from Maharajganj.
