Salesforce to open centre of excellence in Hyderabad

Salesforce, a US-based customer success platform and customer relation management company, on Tuesday announced plans to expand its presence in India with the setting up of a new Centre of Excellence in Hyderabad.

The 2,000-square feet facility at Hitec City here will be functional by the end of this year.

The firm among the fastest growing top 10 software companies and headquartered in San Francisco, plans to add over 1,000 jobs at Hyderabad centre by 2020, tapping into the region's large community of highly skilled technology talent.

Saleforce, which has its presence in Bangalore and Mumbai, also has plans to open its fourth centre in Gurgaon this year.

Unveiling the plans to expand company operations in India, Atul Nanda, Senior VP, Global Customer Success, told reporters that the facility here would one of their largest engineering and customer success centers globally.

"India is going to be a key market for us and we already have customers like Bajaj Finserv, PayTM, Snapdeal, Inmobi and Urban Ladder using our customer success platforms," he said.

Arun Balasubramanian, Country Head-India, Salesforce, said that India continues to be a growing region for cloud computing, with Gartner projecting that the public cloud services market in India will grow 30.4 per cent in 2016 to total $1.26 billion.

"Our plans at the new centre include modern workplace designs that focus on employee wellness with dedicated spaces for collaboration, mindfulness and social activities," he added.

Balasubramanian said Salesforce employees in India have committed to deliver 10,000 total employee volunteer hours to local nonprofits this year. "Salesforce is dedicated to supporting India through its 1-1-1 integrated corporate philanthropy model, in which Salesforce's product, resources and employee time are donated to the communities where employees live and work," he said.

Salesforce has so far powered more than 28,000 nonprofit and higher education institutions, donated more than $120 million in grants through Salesforce.org and given more than 1.4 million volunteer hours throughout the world.

US Consul General Michael Mullins expressed hope that Saleforce will benefit from the huge talent pool available in the region. "During past three years I have witnessed a boost in Indo-US collaboration. Aerospace, defense, health care, nuclear power and development of smart cities were the key areas of interest for the USA in India," he said.

"As the enterprise cloud computing leader with more than 150,000 customers worldwide, Salesforce will strengthen the thriving local tech ecosystem and further draw investments into the state," said Jayesh Ranjan, Secretary IT, Telangana.
