Sam Pitroda, advisor to the prime minister, has been conferred with the Seventh IILM Distinguished Global Thinker award.
The award, instituted by IILM, was given to Pitroda for his lasting contributions to help bridge the digital divide in India and across the globe and for his contribution to usher in the telecom revolution in India.
The award ceremony was attended by Minister of State for Human Resource Development Shashi Tharoor and other personalities from politics, business, media, art and culture.
IILM Institute for higher education is a private business school in India. It was established in 1996 and offers academic programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
