The top brass of the city police inspected the Eden Gardens ground on Monday and were "satisfied" with the security arrangements put in place for the World Twenty20 cricket tournament.
Led by city police commissioner Rajeev Kumar, the officers inspected the ground, two dressing rooms, the entry gates for the teams and the galleries for nearly 30 minutes.
Later, they held a 40-minute meeting with the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) authorities.
"For now we are satisfied with the arrangements that have been done," Deputy Commissioner headquarters Suprotim Sarkar briefed the media later.
Asked if Pakistan's practice game against the Bengal team, scheduled to be held on March 12, would have special security arrangements, Sarkar said, "We have not been told to take extra caution either from the CAB or the BCCI (Board Of Control For Cricket In India) for the match on 12th."
Sarkar added that they have looked into every aspect of the security details and it would not be a problem to ensure the necessary safety measures for the teams.
"Today we inspected the ground and looked into each and every aspect of the security. For every team we will be able to provide the security needed."
Eden Gardens will hold four matches of the tournament including the final.
