Live TV sketch comedy and variety show "Saturday Night Live" opened its 42nd season by putting light on political satire.
The show launched with what seemed almost like a highlight reel of this week's debate between Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, essayed by Alec Baldwin, and his Democratic rival Hillary Clinton, played by Kate McKinnon, reports variety.com.
The first half hour of the show also contained a version of "Family Feud" (TV show) featuring Trump associates and family squaring off against a team of Clinton supporters.
The political material shows "Saturday Night Live" trying to make the most of the current election cycle, which will culminate in November. The show is expected to run live four weeks in a row in order to play off a Presidential campaign that has engrossed much of the nation.
Baldwin is expected to continue to play Trump through November, as the production repeats a technique it started last year by enlisting Larry David to play Senator Bernie Sanders over the course of multiple episodes.
