A resident of Australia's New South Wales state who survived the Holocaust, thanks to Oskar Schindler, has died in Sydney, a media report said on Monday.

Schindler is credited with saving the lives of at least 1,200 Jews employed in his factories during World War II. He died in anonymity in Germany in 1974 at the age of 66.

His story was the focal point of director Steven Spielberg's Oscar-winning film "Schindler's List" in 1993.

Anna Reich, 94, died in Sydney this month, BBC reported. Reich was 19 years old when she was sent to Poland's Plaszow concentration camp, then Auschwitz Birkenau, and finally to Oskar Schindler's factory in Brinnlitz.

She was known in Sydney under the fashion label, Anna Rich. She was featured in an exhibition at the Sydney Jewish Museum called "Dressing Sydney: The Jewish Fashion Story" last year.

The 94-year-old migrated to Australia in the 1950s and became prominent in the fashion industry.

Anna Berger from the Australian Association of Jewish Holocaust Survivors and Descendants said Schindler left an important legacy.

"The fact that Anna could live out her life and run a business and raise a family in Sydney in peace was a real tribute to the sacrifices made by what we would call a righteous amongst the nations," she said.

"He (Schindler) was a gentile who could have lived his life without any complications under Nazi Germany, but he decided to do something spectacularly humane."
