Science was a good mechanism to make a better world to co-exist, with peace, trust and cooperation among people of different opinions, Infosys co-founder N.R. Narayana Murthy said on Monday in the wake of the Paris terror attack.

"We want a world where peace, humanity, trust and cooperation amongst people of different opinion prevail. Science is a good mechanism for us to make it happen," he told reporters on the margins of an event at the software major's campus.

Though Narayana Murthy was hesitant to comment on the terror attack in Paris, he said it made more sense to focus on science, engineering, technology and social sciences, as they were the only ways to make a better world.

"Advancement of scientific research will make India a better place. As we have seen in the past, research in science and technology will bridge the difference between the poor and rich has been reduced and access to education, healthcare and nutrition has become better possible for the poorer people," he said.

Narayana Murthy was interacting with the media after the company's science foundation announced winners of the Infosys Prize in sciences, engineering and humanities for 2015.
