A total of 48 racers will battle for the top honours in the fifth and final round of the Honda One Make Racing Championship, which starts at the Madras Motor Race Track (MMRT) here from Friday.

The MMRT will also witness the season-ending finale of the National Racing Championships this weekend.

The Honda racers will battle it out across the three categories -- CBR 150 Novice, CBR 250 Open and Honda Ladies Race -- in the practice race on Friday before proceeding to the main race, that will take place on Saturday and Sunday.

While this is the fifth and final round for the CBR 150 Novice, CBR 250 Open categories in the 2016 season, nine ladies will be seen in action in what is the fourth and final round of the Honda All Ladies race.

The All Ladies Race will see last rounds top three finishers Aishwarya P. from Bengaluru and local girls Ryhana and Shruthi.

Commenting ahead of the fourth round of the current season, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HSMI) Vice President Prabhu Nagaraj said: "Honda has always been at the forefront of promoting motor racing and is an integral part of Honda's DNA."

"It has been our constant endeavour to encourage the sport in India by providing a platform for aspiring riders to realize their potential. Not only nationally, but Honda is also giving international exposure to the talented riders by sponsoring them into Asia Dream Cup, where the best riders from 12 countries compete."

"Honda is also committed to promote the participation of women riders and first full season of the Honda All Ladies race has been immensely successful," he added.

For the 2016 season, Honda has introduced new race-prepped racing versions of CBR 250R and CBR 150R.

Developed with technical know-how provided by Honda's Indian research and development team, both motorcycles are set to scorch the MMRT beginning this weekend.
