Security core group meet to combat Jammu and Kashmir violence

A high-level security meet was held on Wednesday in Nagrota headquarters of the army's White Knight corps to work out a joint strategy to combat violence and address security issues in Jammu and Kashmir's 10 districts.

Defence spokesman Colonel Manish Mehta told IANS in Jammu: "Core Group Security meeting was held at Nagrota, the headquarters of White Knight Corps today (Wednesday) to take stock of the prevailing security situation South of Pir Panjal in Jammu region's 10 districts.

"The meeting was co-chaired by the General Officer Commanding White Knight Corps Lt. Gen. K.H. Singh and Director General Police, J&K, K. Rajendra Kumar.

"A joint strategy was chalked out in great details between all the agencies to ensure peace and stability in the region and ensure incident-free environment.

"The General Officer Commanding White Knight Corps appreciated the high levels of synergy in operations exhibited by all agencies in recent times. He encouraged all present to overcome contemporary challenges and work towards enhancing confidence amongst the people.

"He further emphasised the requirement to be vigilant, alive and responsive to the developing situation and maintain peace and ensure a peaceful and conducive environment.

"Director General Police (J&K) appreciated the role of all Security Forces in maintaining peace and harmony in the region.

"He emphasised on the need for maintaining high levels of alertness to beat designs of inimical elements and exhorted all present to continue synergy and coordination at functional level to ensure incident-free atmosphere.

Lt. Gen. K.H. Singh stated that the army and its various formations deployed south of Pir Panjal have been most proactively and aggressively dominating the Line of Control and the hinterland thereby assuring a peaceful and secure environment in the area.

He further stated that the Army is ready to face any challenges that may emerge in the future and is ready to counter it with all its might.
