Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath on Tuesday ordered reinstatement of security outside the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) office here, after having it withdrawn on Monday night citing election deployment.
The Chief Minister issued a statement saying, "I have ordered the reinstatement of security of RSS office. But BJP leaders who are crying hoarse over the matter and raising fears of an attack there, must go through the proper process to ask for it."
Kamal Nath said, "We may have ideological differences with the RSS and the RSS may have been opposing us but I am not in favour of removal of security from its office."
"The RSS office is one of the six places from where security has been withdrawn. I do not want to go into details but our government does not have double standards on security like the BJP government had.
"The Congress office had no security for the past 15 years, when there was permanent security outside the BJP office. We have continued to maintain that security cover," he said.
The removal of security personnel from the RSS office on Monday night did not go down well with BJP leaders, who alleged that it was too sudden and they were not informed about it.
Congress leader and former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijaya Singh who is contesting from the Bhopal Lok Sabha seat, too said: "It is not proper to remove security provided to the RSS office in Bhopal. I request Chief Minister Kamal Nath to immediately provide adequate security."
