Four policemen were among seven people killed in a bomb blast Monday in Pakistan's Peshawar city.

Police said the blast targeted a function organised to distribute anti-polio vaccination material in Badabair village, the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) reported.

The injured were admitted to the Lady Reading hospital in Peshawar.

The police cordoned off the entire area and launched a search operation.

Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has strongly condemned the bomb blast.

Sharif paid tribute to the security personnel who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty.
