At least seven people were killed in a car pile-up Friday in southwest China's Guizhou province.

The accident happened around 8 a.m. when a truck carrying coal, two family sedans and a trailer collided on the highway in Guiyang, the provincial capital, Xinhua reported.

The casualties in the accident may go up as the rescue operation is continuing, an official with the information office of the Guiyang municipal government said.
