It was a clear Saturday morning with shallow fog dropping the visibility to 200 metres in the naional capital, the weather office said.
"Visibility at 5.30 a.m. was 400 metres but at 8.30 a.m., it was dropped to 200 metres at Safdarjung area," an official from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) told IANS.
Wind speed was 6 km per hour in the morning and the humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 98 per cent.
As per the IMD, the minimum temperature was recorded at 15.4 degrees Celsius, one notch above the season's average. The maximum temperature is likely to hover around 31 degrees Celsius.
The smog situation during the day is expected to remain poor, the weather office said.
"The sky will mainly remain clear during the day," an official of IMD said.
The visibility due to fog in the Friday morning was 800 metres at Safdarjung airport while the same was 400 metres on Thursday.
The national capital is facing one of its worse air quality post Diwali mainly due to paddy burning in neighbouring states and calm winds which failed to disperse the air pollutants.
Friday's maximum temperature settled at 31.4 degrees Celsius, one notch above the season's average while the minimum temperature was recorded at 14.5 degrees Celsius, normal for this time of the season.
