India's badminton ace P.V. Sindhu on Thursday said she aims to improve her ranking by doing well in the Super Series in Korea and Japan next month.
"For me, winning a medal at the Rio Olympics is the ultimate target. But before that I want to improve my ranking by doing well in the back-to-back Super Series in Korea and Japan in September," Sindhu said after receiving the AJN Award for outstanding performance in the field of sports.
Sindhu, who also received a cash award of Rs.1 lakh at the felicitation ceremony organised by the Calcutta Chamber of Commerce, said the victory over London Olympics gold medallist Li Xuerui of China in the pre-quarter final of the world championships at Jakarta had made her "very happy".
However, she went out of the race at the quarter final by losing to Korean girl Sung Ji Hyun.
The programme was also attended by Vice President Hamid Ansari.
