Sindhu, Srikanth progress to Denmark Open quarters

Indian shuttlers P.V. Sindhu and Kidambi Srikanth progressed to the quarter-finals of their categories at the $600,000 Denmark Open Super Series Premier here Thursday.

Two-time World Championship bronze medallist Sindhu needed only 31 minutes to move past Russia's Ksenia Polikarpova 21-17, 21-19 in their first ever women's singles match.

Later, playing at the Odense Sports Park, Srikanth defeated Chinese Taipei's Jen Hao Hsu 21-15, 21-12 in 45 minutes in their first men's singles contest.

Seventh seed Saina Nehwal and reigning Commonwealth Games champion Parupalli Kashyap will play their matches later in the day.
