Six people were killed and five others injured Saturday in a road accident in the hilly Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said.
Police said a taxi went out of the driver's control and rolled down a deep gorge, around 230 km from Jammu.
"The vehicle went out of the driver's control at Drabshalla and rolled down a gorge, killing six passengers on the spot while five injured were rescued and taken to a hospital," police told IANS.
The taxi was carrying passengers from Himachal Pradesh to Kishtwar town.
Accidents due to overloading and speeding have claimed many lives in the mountainous Chenab valley districts of Kishtwar, Ramban and Doda in recent years.
