Six people including two children died when a locally-made bomb exploded in a house in Tamil Nadu's Tirunelveli district Tuesday, said an official.
"According to preliminary information, six people including two children died in the bomb explosion in Idinthakarai village," District Collector M.Karunagaran told IANS over phone over Tirunelveli, 600 km from here.
He said further details are being gathered. Police and fire service personnel have been sent in the area.
According to Kudankulam police, the blast happened in a house in tsunami colony in Idinthakarai village around 7.30 p.m.
A resident of Idinthakarai village told IANS over phone that some villagers from Koothankuzhi village have been staying in the colony after some trouble arose in their village.
"It seems they had a bomb stored in the house which exploded this evening," he told IANS.
