The Telangana government plans to build skyscrapers around the picturesque Hussainsagar lake which divides the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.

Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao Wednesday reviewed with officials the proposals to build 60 to 100-storey towers around the lake.

With the help of Google maps, he reviewed the vacant government land in areas surrounding the lake and felt that skyscrapers can be built there.

He directed officials to submit a detailed report about the available land, said a statement from the Chief Minister's Office.

KCR, as the chief minister is popularly known, said his government was committed to develop Hyderabad as an international city.

He said skyscrapers were also a key component of an international city as many facilities can be made available to people in a limited space.

KCR said such skyscrapers on the lines of the Petronas Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur and the sea front towers in Mumbai, can house government office, business establishments, entertainment centres and other public and private institutions.

The chief minister said the government will consider proposals like building the towers and giving them on lease or entrusting the construction to private developers. The government will relax building norms to facilitate the projects.
