A small plane chartered by US contracting firm Bancroft crashed at a Mogadishu airport on Tuesday, witnesses said.

A source at the Aden Adde International Airport said passengers who were aboard the plane survived but the incident caused flight disruptions at the airport, Xinhua news agency reported.

"Reports point to a failed landing gear," said the source, adding that the plane crashed while attempting to land.

Bancroft company supports training and logistical services to the African Union Mission in Somalia.
