As the national capital witnessed warm winter days for over a week, weather forecast agencies on Thursday said Delhi will see a drop in temperature in the next two days following snowfall in upper reaches of north India's hills.

"Delhi is again going to feel the chill as a few northern areas of the country have received snowfall today (Thursday). There is likely to be some 2-3 degrees' fall in Delhi's temperature on Friday and Saturday, or even more," said Mahesh Palawat, chief meteorologist of Skymet, India's only private weather forecast agency.

Stating that places like Shimla and Srinagar will see more snowfall in the next two days, he said: "In the coming weeks, Delhi is also likely to witness rainfall, which will bring down the temperature to a great extent."

An official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said Delhi may witness light rain on Saturday evening, which will bring down the temperature.

Meanwhile, the maximum temperature in the capital on Thursday was recorded at 24.7 degrees Celsius, five notches above the season's average. The Met Office has forecast a partly cloudy Friday with thunderstorms.

"There will be dense fog in the morning. The sky is likely to remain partly cloudy," said the IMD official.

The maximum and the minimum temperatures of the day are likely to hover around 24 and 10 degrees Celsius, respectively.

The minimum temperature of Thursday was recorded at 11.5 degrees Celsius, four notches above the season's average.

Wednesday's maximum temperature settled five notches above average at 24 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature at 11.6 degrees was also five notches above average.
